CultMin Turcan: During my tenure, I set out to bring culture closer to the people

Culture Minister Raluca Turcan on Friday visited the summer edition of Art Safari, where Constantin Brancusi's famous work "The Kiss" is exhibited, saying that such events bring culture "closer to the people."

"'The Kiss' is a very small part of Constantin Brancusi's entire work and I must tell you that the emotion was very strong. We were discussing with our hosts that in paintings or albums the sculpture seems larger, but when you see it in reality - and this is my first time that I see it in reality - it's smaller but full of meaning. I'm glad I'm back here at Art Safari to see this masterpiece of our national heritage and I urge as many as possible to come to visit, because Art Safari, as a whole, this year's edition, is fully exceptional, and this part of Brancusi's work is really a privilege that it would be a shame not to have near. Duing my ministerial tenure I set out to bring culture closer to the people every day and to increase access to culture", said Turcan, told Agerpres.

She added that Art Safari brings "extremely diverse and attractive" exhibitions to Bucharest.

"It is no coincidence that the Ministry of Culture is also a partner, including in this year's edition, and in Brancusi's 'The Kiss' project, because they are doing what I want to multiply at the national level, namely culture that is more accessible, closer to the people. I want to thank those who come, they pay for a ticket to enjoy culture," said Turcan.

She added that "The Kiss" will be exhibited this year in Timisoara as well.
