Minister of Culture Natalia Intotero met on Tuesday with the president of the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation in Washington D.C., Dr. Eric Patterson, and discussed the establishment of the National Museum of the Anti-Communist Revolution of December 1989 in Timisoara.
"The National Museum of the Anti-Communist Revolution of December 1989 in Timisoara was a central topic of our discussion. This essential project, set up by law in 2022, will operate under the authority of the Ministry of Culture and will be housed in the former former Timisoara Garrison Command, a building of particular significance. The restoration and modernization of this space will transform the museum into a place of reflection, knowledge and gratitude to the heroes of the Revolution," informs Natalia Intotero, in a post on her Facebook page.
The Culture minister considers that the future museum represents "a firm commitment to truth, memory and national dignity".
Dr. Eric Patterson, a prominent personality in the field of historical memory, dedicated to promoting the values of freedom and democracy, also welcomed the representatives of the National Alliance of Creators Unions, "the largest form of association of professional artists in Romania, representing over 13,000 creators and performing artists".
