Culture Minister Lucian Romascanu attended the Council of European Union's Culture Ministers on Monday, highlighting the actions taken by the institution he leads in support of Ukrainian refugee artists, according to a press release issued by Culture Ministry.
According to a Culture Ministry release, the agenda of the meeting also included the adoption of conclusions on the intensification of intercultural exchanges through the mobility of artists, and the conclusions on drawing up a European strategy for the ecosystem of cultural and creative industries.
The quoted source states that Romascanu underlined, in his interventions, the multiple actions promoted by the institutions of the Culture Ministry for the support of Ukrainian refugee artists. The minister also referred to the importance of allocating additional funds, especially to those in the first line of support for Ukrainians, as is the case in Romania. He also mentioned the signing by Romania, along with seven other states, of the declaration initiated by Poland to expand the area of sanctions against Russia in the cultural area, Agerpres.ro informs.
The culture minister also spoke about the need for common practices for the evacuation of mobile heritage affected by conflicts.
The Romanian side had fruitful talks with Commissioner Mariya Gabriel and other European ministers of culture, and concrete actions will be seen in the future, the release informs.
