Culture Minister Demeter Andras Istvan and Special Telecommunications Service Director, General Ionel Sorin Balan, have signed a cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening and modernising the communications infrastructure in the culture area.

'This institutional partnership has as its main objective the facilitation of efficient, secure and transparent access to the digital information and resources of the Ministry of Culture and marks an essential step in the development of its digital services in line with current communication and security standards,' the Ministry of Culture said on Friday in a Facebook post, agerpres reports.

By signing the agreement the Special Telecommunications Service will provide the Ministry of Culture with high quality services including website administration and maintenance, hosting, teleconferencing and videoconferencing services and secure internet access.

'A secure digital infrastructure means a ministry that functions efficiently and a well managed cultural heritage. Through this agreement with the Special Telecommunications Service we are laying the foundations of a system capable of responding quickly to the real needs of culture,' said Andras Istvan Demeter.

The director of the Special Telecommunications Service stressed that digitalisation strengthens the ministry's ability to manage cultural heritage. 'For us it is a responsibility and an honour to help improve the activity of an essential area for Romania, culture. We provide a secure and stable digital infrastructure that supports the management of heritage and the ministry's services,' General Balan added.
