The Ministry of Culture issued a tribute following the passing of composer Horia Moculescu, showing that he lives on in our cultural memory and in every melody of his we still hum.
"About certain music artists we never think that they will leave. Because, in a way, they've always been there - woven into our memories, the background of our lives, and the refrains we hum without ever knowing when we learned them. Horia Moculescu is one of them," the Ministry representatives wrote on Facebook.
The message notes that Moculescu "composed with talent, wit, humor and elegance", and his music "which never needed to raise its voice to be heard, stayed close, warm, and natural, "quietly finding its way into our homes and into our souls".
"We say farewell with gratitude: for the melodies that became landmarks and for the lesson that beauty is never imposed through noise - but settles gently, with simplicity and soul. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and all those who cherished him. Horia Moculescu lives on in our cultural memory and in every refrain that we still hum without even realizing it," the Ministry of Culture said.
Composer Horia Moculescu died on Wednesday at the age of 88.
