Olympic champions David Popovici and Ioana Vrinceanu, as well as former footballer Ionut Rada, were among the athletes honoured on Tuesday evening at the #BeActive Gala - 10 years of movement, energy and European unity organised by the National Sports Agency.
Ionut Rada and Ioana Vrinceanu received the Best #BeActive Ambassador award for men and women, while David Popovici and Sabrina Voinea were named Most Popular Ambassador.
Popovici said that promoting sport and a healthy lifestyle is extremely important to him and this is why he joined the sporting events organised by the National Sports Agency under the BeActive banner.
'Movement is incredibly important for people. Promoting a healthy lifestyle and encouraging young people to be active are, quite simply, things that I find very, very important. That is why I need to be here at BeActive,' said the Olympic and world swimming champion.
In turn, former footballer Ionut Rada said that physical activity should be part of everyone's routine for a healthy life.
'The National Sports Agency is celebrating 10 years of BeActive. We all know what BeActive means at European level. I believe it is very important for everyone to do, first of all, a bit of exercise, a brisk walk, a run, a bit of playing together with friends, with children, with neighbours. Then we will certainly all feel much better and be healthier. I miss the time when I played football and I think I will always miss it, but this is also a beautiful stage of life. There is life after performance,' Rada said.
