Romanian athlete David Popovici qualified, with the fourth time, for the semifinals of the 100 m freestyle, on Wednesday, at the 16th FINA World Swimming Championships (25 m) in Melbourne.
Popovici was recorded in the heats with a time of 46 sec 15/100, being overtaken by Jordan Crookes (Cayman Islands), 45 sec 61/100, by French Maxime Grousset, 45 sec 77/100, and by Australian Kyle Chalmers, 45 sec 84/100.
David Popovici, double world champion in the 100 m freestyle in the Olympic pool, will compete in the first semifinal on Wednesday, from 11:08 a.m. (Romanian time). The final is scheduled for Thursday, from 10:42.
Romania is represented by three swimmers at the World Championships in Melbourne (December 13-18). AGERPRES
