The National Defence Ministry (MApN) will bring several clarifications on Friday regarding the mobilization exercise of reservists from Bucharest and Ilfov county, which is currently taking place, Spokesperson of the Government Ioana Dogioiu mentioned.
She was asked on Thursday within a news conference held at the Victoria Palace, how the Government views the ongoing reservist mobilisation exercise, taking into account that some of those mobilised have expressed dissatisfaction in the public space regarding the organisation of the exercise.
"There is no official position from the Government. What I am conveying to you now is certainly not a standpoint I have discussed with the Prime Minister on this matter, because we have not had such a discussion. However, what I think is understandable, before the Defence Minister provides further details, from what I have understood - I've spoken with him - tomorrow, as he is out of the country today, is that the purpose of an exercise is not to determine that everything is perfect. If we found that everything was perfect than the exercise would be pointless. The purpose of an exercise is to identify any problems, of all kinds. If any have been identified, as has been the case, Mr Minister Mosteanu will communicate that in the discussion he intends to have with the press tomorrow," Ioana Dogioiu said.
Between 12 and 20 October, reservists residing in Bucharest and Ilfov county were called up for a mobilisation exercise called MOBEX B-IF-25, aimed at verifying the staffing and equipment of military units, as well as strengthening cohesion between reservists and active-duty servicemen.
Reports have emerged in the public space from some reservists who pointed out problems with the way they were summoned to the military units to which they are assigned.
The spokesman for the MApN, Colonel Corneliu Stefan Pavel argued that one of the objectives of these exercises is precisely to identify the problems that arise during the process, so they can be addressed.
