The execution of the consolidated general budget in the first six months of 2024 ended with a deficit of 63.67 billion RON, respectively 3.6% of GDP, compared to the deficit of 37.21 billion RON, respectively 2.32% of the GDP related to H1 2023, according to the data of the Ministry of Finance, released on Friday.

In the first five months, the deficit recorded was 60.10 billion RON, or 3.4% of GDP.

Total revenues amounted to 275.50 billion RON in the first half of 2024, registering an increase of 13.5% (year on year), supported by receipts from current revenues - contributions of insurance, VAT, payroll tax, profit tax and non-tax income.

The expenses of the general consolidated budget in the amount of 339.17 billion RON increased in nominal terms by 21.2% compared to the same period of the previous year. Expressed as percent of the Gross Domestic Product, expenses for the first six months of 2024 registered an increase of 1.8 percentage points compared to the same period of 2023, from 17.4% of GDP to 19.2% of GDP.
