National Defence Minister Ionut Mosteanu stated on Saturday that, for the Republic of Moldova, staying on the European path means peace, respected rights and the chance for a better future and urged all Moldovan citizens, wherever they are, to go and cast their vote, Agerpres reports.
Parliamentary elections will take place on Sunday in the Republic of Moldova.
"Beyond being a simple democratic exercise, what is happening tomorrow will be a test of resilience amid a hybrid war triggered by Russia, aimed at striking people's trust in democracy, freedom and Europe. In recent weeks, press investigations have revealed the same textbook techniques: dirty money spent to influence, propaganda networks sowing distrust, cyber pressure and information poisoning. The target is to delegitimize the democratic process and exhaust society. Kremlin is betting on chaos," Ionut Mosteanu wrote on his Facebook page.
He underscored that a democracy is defended through each person's vigilance, through verified truth, through observed rules and the refusal of each to sell their values or vote.
"Romania and the Republic of Moldova share the same security line, and the hybrid war does not stop at the Pruth. Security is built together with out neighbors and friends. Democracy means being able to choose freely, and fear, lie or dirty money should not decide for the people. For the Republic of Moldova, staying on the European path means peace, respected rights and a chance for a better future. The choice is between the subordination desired by the Kremlin and the stability provided by Europe. The stakes are high. Every vote counts. Therefore, I urge all the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, wherever they are, to go tomorrow and express their choice at the polls!," the Romanian National Defence Minister conveyed.
