National Defense Minister Angel Tilvar, attending on Monday the opening ceremony of the Romania-led Sea Shield maritime live exercise in the Port of Constanta, said that this multinational exercise represents a commitment to the security and stability of the region.
"SEA SHIELD 25 represents a commitment to the security and stability of our region. United, we are better positioned and more resilient in facing the challenges that await us. By conducting this exercise, the Romanian Navy aims to support cooperation between all categories of forces, and this integrated and synergistic approach maximizes operational efficiency and ensures efficient resource management, thus strengthening regional security," Tilvar said as cited in a Defense Ministry release.
The minister's working visit to Constanta also included a trip to the 'Mircea cel Batran' Naval Academy, where he was shown the projects for the modernization of the training and education base completed by the institution.
The presentation included the new cybersecurity-cyberdefense training laboratories, engines and other elements of naval mechanics, the infantry/artillery firing simulator - a first for the Romanian military higher education - the 'Comandor Eugeniu Botez' University Library, as well as the new sports base, complete with a football field with an obstacle course and a four-lane running track.
"The facilities inaugurated by the Naval Academy at the end of February add to the series of recent investments in this field, proving a responsible, committed and targeted management, with a predictable development policy adjusted to the needs of the army. On behalf of the National Defense Ministry, I would like to express my gratitude to the Academy's management team, the military and civilian, teaching, non-teaching and administrative staff of the institution, for providing the youth with an environment conducive to development, best conditions for holding classes, seminars, for board and lodging. Here, at the Naval Academy, I saw a mature and efficient management team dedicated to ensuring the best study and living conditions for the institution's students. I assured them of our full support in the future as well," Tilvar said.
