Deputy Prime Minister Oana Gheorghiu announced on Thursday, in a video message, that she took over the Deputy Prime Minister office believing that, together with the team led by Ilie Bolojan, she will be able to simplify the citizen's life and, at the same time, contribute "to the change."

"I took over the reform, digitalisation and debureaucratisation portfolio believing that, together with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan's team, we can simplify the citizen's life. These are things that affect all our lives, and I am confident that we can change the way citizens perceive public institutions. There is a lack of trust between citizens and public institutions, stemming from how we communicate, from how things work within those institutions. I bring the experience of working at ground level. I want to contribute to the change, I want to contribute to the manner in which the citizen perceives and feels the relationship with the Romanian state. I bring the experience of building and I am convinced that, together, we can make this country better," Oana Gheorghiu said.

The Deputy Prime Minister gave assurances that, during this mandate, she will do everything within her powers to simplify the citizen's life.

"I know that everyone in this country wants to live better. We all want a better Romania. And I also know that only together can we achieve that. I believe in Romania, I believe in our chance to have a better life. We have the resources, we have the energy, what we lack is trust - trust that the state truly cares about us. And perhaps also the state's trust that the citizens will one day have faith in it. We are strong when we stand united and I believe this is what I can bring to this team. My role here is to help and to contribute to building this trust. My experience working at ground level with people in need strengthens my belief that, together, we can change things. I believe in our chance, I believe in Romania and I believe that together we can change things," Oana Gheorghiu conveyed.

Oana Gheorghiu took the oath of office on Thursday before President Nicusor Dan, in a ceremony held at the Cotroceni Palace.

The decree appointing her as Deputy Prime Minister was published on Thursday in the Official Journal of Romania.

Oana Gheorghiu, co-founder of the Daruieste Viata Association, took the office left vacant after Dragos Anastasiu tendered his resignation in August. During this period, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan also acted as interim Deputy Prime Minister.
