The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, announced that he discussed working conditions and training in the medical system during a first meeting with representatives of the Federation of Medical Student Associations and the Multidisciplinary Society of Resident Physicians.

"We openly discussed working conditions and training in the medical system - an essential topic for the present and future of healthcare in Romania," said Alexandru Rogobete in a post on his Facebook page.

He stated that he presented the objectives that the MS team is pursuing in the coming period:

- Starting September 1, the salaries of resident doctors working in private hospitals will be paid by the respective healthcare units, at the same level as those in public hospitals;

- We will regulate the payment of guards in an adequate and fair manner - differentiated according to specialty, year of residency and complexity of the work;

- We are working together for new real opportunities for postgraduate training and professionalization of young doctors.

"I sent them a clear message: cutting doctors' bonuses or salaries is NOT provided for in Package 2 of measures. It is misinformation that must be combated. Instead, we will correlate bonuses with performance. I await their concrete proposals until September. We are partners in this endeavor. I firmly believe that the voice of young doctors must be listened to and valued. We have a lot of work to do, but if we remain together and honest, we can build a more fair, equitable and humane medical system. Trust is good for us," said Minister Rogobete.
