The head of the National Directorate of Cybersecurity (DNSC), Dan Cimpean, and the head of AWS Security Assurance Europe, Andrew Venekotter, discussed during a meeting organized in Bucharest the evolution of the global cyber threat landscape, the preparations for the implementation of the European regulatory framework for cybersecurity and the importance of strengthening Europe's digital resilience.

According to a release posted on the DNSC website, the meeting consolidated the trusting and long-term partnership between the two institutions, built on a common vision of supporting secure and innovative digital transformation, for both public and private sector stakeholders in Romania and across the EU.

A key-topic was the AWS European Sovereign Cloud, a major investment that will increase operational autonomy, data residency, and compliance capabilities for European organizations, helping them successfully navigate national and EU-wide regulations.

"We value the strong partnership we have with AWS as we prepare to implement Europe's new cybersecurity framework. As a leading provider of security technologies and advanced sovereignty controls worldwide, we are pleased to see that Amazon's future investments in the AWS European Sovereign Cloud will further enhance resilience and provide public and private organizations in Europe with new options for secure digital transformation," Dan Cimpean was quoted in the release.

Andrew Venekotter, in turn, stressed that investments in Europe's digital sovereignty capabilities reflect Amazon Web Services' long-term commitment "to supporting regulators, governments and customers with trusted solutions that meet their evolving needs for resilience and compliance."
