Capital District 1 Mayor Clotilde Armand announced that she asked the Central Electoral Bureau (BEC) to cancel the local elections in District 1.
She also filed several court actions against members of the District Electoral Bureau (BES) and polling station presidents, whom she accuses of having altered dozens of minutes.
"There are too many electoral frauds that took place under the supervision of Marcel Ciolacu and Toni Grebla. There are no suspicions, we have certain evidence for these electoral thefts that took place on June 9, 2024. We have discovered polling stations from which hundreds of ballot papers are missing from the ballot boxes, the minutes were grossly altered at the headquarters of the District 1 Electoral Burreau, and in at least 41 polling stations (about a quarter of the polling stations in District 1) the control keys do not equal 0 (zero), that is the number of ballots received is greater than the sum of those used and those canceled, the differences are extremely large," Armand writes on Facebook.
She added that Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu and Central Electoral Bureau President Toni Grebla had an obligation to ensure the fairness of the electoral process.
"Instead, through the measures taken, they intentionally created chaos in the polling stations and local electoral offices in order to steal in peace. All these frauds and irregularities decisively influenced the final result of the elections. Mr. Marcel Ciolacu, Mr. Toni Grebla, you will be held accountable before the law for the chaos of the elections," Armand writes.
At the same time, she emphasises the importance of "fair and transparent" elections in a genuine democracy.
