The President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker on Wednesday told the Romanian Prime minister Viorica Dancila on her two-day official visit in Brussels that he "trusts very much Romania's judiciary" and that he is not necessarily "very worried" about the situation in our country.
I told Ms. Prime minister that I very much trust the judiciary in Romania, Juncker asserted. Issues exist in several countries of the EU regarding the strict enforcement of the rule of law's regulations. Obviously, I have called upon this matter, but I'm not necessarily very worried about the situation in Romania. I know that Romania's President is dealing with this, too, which is why the judiciary works and Ms. Prime minister is very fond of the rule of law regulations and the rule of law, Jean-Claude Juncker specified.
In her turn, Prime minister Dancila stressed that she believes "in the freedom of justice, in the rule of law, in the fact that one must fight against corruption."
"I told Mr. President [Juncker, ed. n.] that when there is any doubt, we must talk punctually, not generally, to solve out or set things right what is unsatisfactory at European level. And I believe that this - a punctual cooperation regarding the things that are not satisfactory, and not generally, can only be beneficial both for Romania and for the briefing of the European bodies," Viorica Dancila stressed.
