The European Consumer Centre in Romania (ECC Romania) - a department within the National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) - recovered for consumers the amount of 290,000 euros, in the first nine months of this year,

"During this period, ECC Romania handled about 4,900 requests received from Romanian consumers and over 200 requests from consumers from other member states of the European Union (EU), including Norway, Iceland and the United Kingdom, transmitted through the European Consumer Centres in the countries of residence of the consumers," it is mentioned in a press release of the structure in Romania, sent to AGERPRES on Friday.

According to the same source, the complaints covered five main areas, as follows: transportation (air, road, rail, sea and car rentals) - 28.2%, clothing and footwear (19.1%), various products and services (financial services, personal items - watches, jewelry, care products, other services) - 14.8%, furniture, household equipment and routine household maintenance (household appliances, furniture) - 13.5%, and hotels and restaurants (10.2%).

The share of requests has changed compared to the first six months of this year, largely due to the first significant decrease in the number of complaints related to air transport services (flight cancellations or delays) since the end of the pandemic period.

In contrast, the number of requests related to the purchase of various products and services increased, especially those for clothing, footwear, as well as those for hotels and restaurants, given that the third quarter of the year is dedicated to holidays.

The same data also reveal a decrease in the share of complaints in the field of financial services, personal items and care products.

ECC Romania is part of the European Consumer Centres Network (ECC-Net), which includes 29 centres from all 27 EU member states, plus Iceland and Norway. The centres offer information, advice and facilitate the amicable resolution of cross-border disputes.
