Gauging his priorities against the extensive responsibilities of the Ministry of Economy, Digital Transformation, Entrepreneurship and Tourism, minister in charge Radu-Dinel Miruta mentioned that as far as digital transformation is concerned, he wants to streamline the online process for setting up a company so that it should only take a day, improving thus the trust of the business milieu in the state authorities; setting in place cost standards for the procurement of digital products for consistent prices; putting together a 'Building Blocks' library for software modules so as to eliminate recurring payments each time these resources are re-used by various state institutions.

Speaking of defense companies, Miruta said he wants to shake up this sector, as activity here will become increasingly intense in the coming period. "My challenge is to get things moving here on several levels: management, orders, more efficient production lines," the minister told AGERPRES, stressing that the chances to succeed are good because a lot of European money has been put on the table for the rearmament of the EU member countries and these companies should also be eligible for a chunk of the pie.

He took issue with Romania's meager digitalization rate (from the speed of the internet, the people's ability to use it, the degree of connection of state institutions, the training of software producers), and cited OECD and World Bank studies that demonstrate that if Romania manages to reach the average EU digitalization score the domestic product will increase by 6.8% - with a direct growth of 3.3 - 3.5%, and around 3% as a result of the enhanced competitiveness of the companies. "Just think about it, the entire budget of Education is 3% of GDP. We are scrambling to find solutions for zero something percent of GDP and alone from digitalization you could get 3%," Miruta said, pledging a push for digitalization.
