Minister of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism Stefan-Radu Oprea signed on Monday in Navodari the approval notice for the establishment of the "Mamaia Nord Resort" Destination Management Organization (DMO) and handed it to Navodari mayor Florin Chelaru, the Ministry said in a release.
"I want us to promote Romanian tourism and I believe that we can only succeed through a good cooperation between the state institutions, control ones included, and the representatives of the business environment and of course, us, the team from the Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism. The government of Romania pledged to attract through the NRRP all the funds allocated to destination management organizations. This is a total of about 10 million euros, of which 8 million euros for the development of DMOs (through infrastructure projects aimed at increasing the accessibility, sustainability and development of destinations) and another 2 million euros for the digitalization of tourist destinations and the elaboration of tourism development and marketing strategies," Minister Stefan-Radu Oprea said.
The "Mamaia Nord Resort" DMO represented by the public-private partnership of the Navodari Local Council, the Mamaia Nord Employers' Organization and Holiday Beach SRL will develop and implement the tourism development and marketing strategy at local level. Among the goals committed to by the three founding members are increasing the degree of capitalization on the destination's tourist potential, extending the duration of stays and increasing the number of visitors, identifying measures to reduce seasonality, increasing the visibility of the tourism brand and promoting the sustainability of the companies in the industry.
Romania currently has 15 local DMOs, one county and a regional one.
