The president of the Romanian Cycling Federation, Eduard Carol Novak (40 years), the only Paralympian in Romanian history, was granted a diploma of merit from the European Cycling Union (UEC), during the weekend, on the occasion of 30th congress of the continental forum that took place in Brussels, according to a release sent to Agerpres.
Novak was awarded for his work in developing and promoting the Romanian and European cycling by the Head of UEC, Frenchman David Lappartient, and famous Vyacheslav Ekimov, triple Olympic champion and President of the Russian Federation in the field. In addition to this distinction, Eduard Novak was elected as voting delegate on behalf of UEC for the next UCI Congress (International Cyclist Union) along with representatives of 14 other countries in the 50 European federations present at the election.
"I am very proud of the UEC's appreciation. It was an honor to receive the award from two personalities of the European and world cycling. I am optimistic that the international forums' respect for Romanian cycling of the last period will lead to the development of this sport in our country in the years to follow!" said Carol Eduard Novak, who was elected vice-president of the Balkan forum in December 2016. Novak was elected on February 10 for a second term as President of the Romanian Cycling Federation.
