National Education Minister Liviu Pop told the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) taking place in Paris, in which he is due to participate until November 4 that Romania has chosen the path of innovation, in line with the dynamics of transformations and the new challenges imposed by the swift evolution of technology.
According to a press release sent to AGERPRES, Minister Pop, as Chairperson of Romania's National Commission for UNESCO, maintained during the Forum of the political leaders, Romania's national statement and in his address he presented Romania's stance and contribution to fulfilling the UNESCO objectives, as well as the strategic and operational measures regarding the enhancement of the role held by science, education and culture in view of a durable development.
"In agreement with the dynamics of the transformations and the new challenges imposed by the swift evolution of technology, Romania has chosen the path of innovation. Consequently, we have introduced the digital textbooks but also the IT&C subject [educational technology - ed.n.] in the framework plan for the first cycle of secondary education. Moreover, we are interested in developing the Open Educational Resources and we are also open to cooperate on this issue, both regionally and internationally. Furthermore, in view of strengthening Romania's educational system on quality and relevance criteria, we have initiated a comprehensive reform process. Elaborating the national curriculum on key-competencies, the development and integration of early education within the system, as well as revitalising the technical and vocational education are only a few of this reform's main components,' Liviu Pop stated.
