The elections for members from Romania in the European Parliament, as well as the other types of elections next year, must be held in the best and most efficient way possible, and the key to success remains the transparency of the electoral process and ensuring the access of all citizens to vote, stated the president of the the Standing Electoral Authority (AEP), Toni Grebla, at the high-level meeting of the European Cooperation Network on Elections, which took place on Monday and Tuesday in Brussels.
According to a press release of the AEP sent on Wednesday, the president of the AEP, Toni Grebla, and the director of the Regulatory Directorate, electoral litigation and the coordination of the unified application of the legislation, Octavian Chesaru, presented "relevant aspects regarding the transparency of the electoral processes and the capabilities of the IT systems used in the elections in Romania".
"It is our duty and responsibility, of all electoral bodies in the European Union, to ensure the organization of free, fair and democratic elections, especially in the current European context that is facing unprecedented challenges. With the support of the European Commission specialists, we started extensive consultation processes so that both the elections for members of the European Parliament from Romania and for the other types of elections next year take place in the best and most efficient way possible. The key to success remains the transparency of the electoral process and ensuring the access of all citizens to vote, in a joint effort to increase the confidence of the electorate, especially the young, in the usefulness of voting for society," said Toni Grebla, quoted in the press release.
The AEP president sent the meeting participants an invitation to participate, as observers, in the electoral processes organized in our country in 2024, including those for the election of the Romanian members in the European Parliament.
