Eleven people were affected by the explosion that occurred in a residential block in Sector 5, and rescue teams are carrying out search operations to identify any other possible individuals who may have been trapped.
Bucharest firefighters are intervening on Friday with 20 emergency vehicles at the site of the explosion, which took place in a block of flats on Calea Rahovei, Sector 5 of the capital.
'To manage the situation effectively, ten fire engines, two ladder trucks, two rescue vehicles, three SMURD ambulances, one mobile intensive care unit, a mobile command post and a CBRN [Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear] unit were deployed to the scene,' the Press Office of the Bucharest-Ilfov Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISUBIF) informed.
To ensure a more effective response, the Red Intervention Plan was activated.
