The president of the Romanian Rowing Federation (FRC) Elisabeta Lipa told a press conference on Wednesday that, just as by now, Team Romania will keep their standards high at the upcoming Rowing World Championships in Shanghai, where they will aim for a spot among the best in the world.

"As we have accustomed you, Romanian rowing will keep the bar high at the Shanghai World Championships too. We are trying to show our best, the way we like it, be up there with the elites. This even though we are just at the beginning of the Olympic cycle. I am very happy that we have potential, starting with the juniors and ending with the Under-23s, a category where we recently won 6 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals at the European Championships. And these wonderful children have shown us that they can put up with both the U-23, and the senior category challenge, because they are truly gifted. I am glad that the International Federation has introduced the mixed event this year, which, as seen in the Under-23, is very spectacular. I am convinced that our athletes will show what they are capable of in this new event as well," the FRC president said at the conference held at the 'Elisabeta Lipa' National Sports Complex in Snagov.

Head coach of the national rowing teams Dorin Alupei said that Romania is determined to fight for medals and to assert its status as a top nation in this discipline.

"Behind each name are thousands of hours of training, sacrifices, and a great desire to climb the podium. Team Romania is strong and balanced, made up of experienced athletes, but also of talented youngsters. Our aim is clear: to fight for medals and to once again confirm our status as a top nation in rowing," he said.

Alupei mentioned that Romania's lineup is 99% completed and the last changes will be made before the departure to China, scheduled for Sunday evening.

"Registrations for the World Championships ended on August 25, that is very early for us. But fortunately, the regulations allow us to change up to 50% of each crew. I can say that the team is now 99% complete, we will make the final touches before leaving on Sunday evening. We also have crews under 23 and we hope that these Senior World Championships will be an interesting experience for these young folks in view of their aspiration to qualify for the Olympics," explained the coach.

The 2025 World Rowing Championships will take place in Shanghai - China, September 21 to 28. For the first time in the history of the competition, it will include mixed double sculls and mixed eight events.
