Romania has accelerated negotiations with the Chinese party on the one hand for reactors no. 3 and 4 at Cernavoda Plant and on the other hand for the establishment of a new lignite-based group at Rovinari Thermo Power Plant, more rounds of discussions having taken place in the last three months than in the past years put together, Energy Minister Toma Petcu stated on Wednesday during a visit to Romania of a delegation of companies and institutions from China, headed by Nur Bekri, the Vice President of the National Development and Reform Committee and Director of the National Energy Administration of the People's Republic of China.

"Both are major strategic projects fro Romania that, once developed, will have a national and regional- level impact. Together with the Chinese party, we have unblocked and accelerated negotiations in both cases. Precisely on the sidelines of this meeting, the Romanian-Chinese negotiating teams have had daily meetings, for a week. Just to give you an idea of the intensity of our work, I can tell you that our negotiating teams have had more talks in three months than in the past years put together," Petcu specified.

The Chinese delegation is participating on Wednesday in the Ministerial Conference on Energy Cooperation in China - Central and Eastern European Countries format 16+1.

The Romanian Energy Minister maintained that he wishes the two projects be carried out together with the Chinese partners due to the expertise range and capital of the two companies involved in the negotiations, CGN and China Huadian Engineering.

In his turn, Nur Bekri, the Vice President of the National Development and Reform Committee and Director of the National Energy Administration of the People's Republic of China specified that the Chinese party attaches great appreciation to the events in Bucharest, participating in these activities with a delegation of 20 companies and institutions in the energy sector.

"The Energy Administration in China, Romania and other countries in Eastern and Central Europe will act together for the development of exchanges in the hydroelectric, nuclear power plants, renewable energies, oil and coal energy. As my friends in the media know very well, the 19th General Assembly of Representatives took place in China, on which occasion the entry of the Chinese socialist society into a new stage was proclaimed. By 2020, China will reach a medium standard of living and in 2020 another stage will follow. I am very confident that this conference will bring future benefits to China, as well as to countries in Eastern and Central Europe, for a practical collaboration and in this respect, it will provide collaboration development opportunities," Nur Bekri affirmed.
