The price of energy for consumers who are powered in universal service will increase as of 1 January, while the peak energy consumption, between 18:00hrs and 22:00hrs will be more expensive by 13 percent, according to the data published by the Romanian Power Market Operator (OPECOM) website.
The auctions for quarter I of 2018 on the Centralised Market for Universal Service (PCSU) ended on Tuesday and OPCOM published the closing prices.
Thus, for the energy delivered round the clock between 1:00hrs and 24:00hrs, the price will be 245 lei per MWh, higher by 6.5 percent than in the fourth quarter of this year.
Therefore, for the 08:00hrs-24:00hrs interval, it will be 272 lei per MWh, higher by 7 percent, and for the peak energy consumption, namely between 18:00 and 22:00hrs, the price will stand at 302 lei per MWh, increasing by 13 percent.
As of 1 January, the energy market will be completely liberalised and the households that previously benefited from regulated prices will receive energy at the closing prices of PCSU auctions.
