Young cellist Valentin Radutiu and renowned Swedish pianist Per Rundberg will perform Friday, at 8:00 PM, at the Constanta Casino, within an event included in the George Enescu International Festival.
According to the website of the international festival, the program includes: George Enescu Cello Sonata No. 1 in F minor Op. 26; Johannes Brahms Six Lieder (arrangement for Cello and Piano) - Feldeinsamkeit Op. 86 No. 2, Sapphische Ode Op. 94 No. 4, Liebestreu Op. 3 No. 1, Wie Melodien zieht es mir leise durch den Sinn Op. 105 No. 1, Wiegenlied Op. 49 No. 4, Minnelied Op. 71 No. 5; Claude Debussy Cello Sonata in D minor L. 135; George Enescu Cello Sonata No. 2 in C major Op. 26, agerpres reports.
The "Transylvania" State Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir of Cluj-Napoca will perform on Friday, 4:30 PM, at the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest, alongside conductor Cristian Mandeal, choir conductor Cornel Groza, soprano Lucy Crowe, mezzo-soprano Jess Dandy, tenor Benjamin Hullet and bass Alastair Miles
The audience will have the chance to hear Ludwig van Beethoven "Missa solemnis" in D major Op. 123.
Also at the Romanian Athenaeum, as of 10:30 PM, within the "Midnight Concerts" series, Sinfonia Varsovia and the Preludiu - Voicu Enachescu Chamber Choir will take the stage. Conductor Constantin Grigore and choir conductor Andrei Stanculescu will lead the performance, featuring solo soprano Gloria Tronel, soprano Apolline Rai-Westphal, countertenor Alexandru Costea, tenor Tadeusz Szlenkier, bass Alexei Botnarciuc and vocalist Maruca Iliuta.
The evening program includes Zbigniew Preisner "Requiem for My Friend."
The Sinfonia Varsovia ensemble continues the tradition of Jerzy Maksymiuk's Polish Chamber Orchestra, founded in 1972, from which it emerged as a result of its enlargement. The impulse to expand the ensemble was provided in 1984 by the arrival of the legendary violinist Yehudi Menuhin, who soon took over as the first guest conductor at the invitation of directors Franciszek Wybranczyk and Waldemar Dabrowski.
Over the years, Sinfonia Varsovia has played more than 4,000 concerts, performing in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls under conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Emmanuel Krivine, Witold Lutoslawski, Lorin Maazel, Jerzy Maksymiuk and Krzysztof Penderecki (who in 1997 became the music director, and in June 2003 the artistic director of the ensemble), and alongside such soloists as Piotr Anderszewski, Martha Argerich, Alfred Brendel, Gidon Kremer, Nikolai Lugansky, Anne-Sophie Mutter, Maria Joăo Pires and Mstislav Rostropovich.
Belcea Quartet & Leonkoro Quartet will perform at the Banatul Philharmonic in Timisoara (Capitol Hall) at 7:00 PM.
The program includes: Felix Mendelssohn Four Pieces for String Quartet Op. 81 (No. 3 and No. 4); Ludwig van Beethoven String Quartet No. 16 in F major Op. 135; George Enescu String Octet in C major Op. 7.
The "Mihail Jora" Philharmonic Orchestra of Bacau with Andrei Petrache - conductor, piano, orchestral arrangements, Luiza Zan - soloist, Razvan Florescu - vibraphone, Philip Goron - percussion, Mike Alex - bass, will perform at 09:00 PM, at the Tricolor Square in Bacau.
The audience will be able to hear In My Village - Symphonic.
The Romanian National Opera Bucharest will host on Friday, as of 07:30 PM, the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana with James Gaffigan - conductor, Gabor Tompa - director and Carmencita Brojboiu - set design.
Maurice Ravel's "L'heure espagnole M. 52" will be performed, featuring tenor Ivan Ayon Rivas as Gonzalve, tenor Mikeldi Atxalandabaso as Torquemada, baritone Armando Noguera as Ramiro, bass Manuel Fuentes as Don Inigo Gomez and mezzo-soprano Gaelle Arquez as Concepcion.
The contemporary dance, staged poetry and immersive projection show called Onirius, created by Gigi Caciuleanu to the music of Paul Ilea, with projections by Les Ateliers Nomad enhancing the dreamlike atmosphere, will be presented in a new performance on Thursday, at MINA - Museum of Immersive New Art in Bucharest, at 08:00 PM, according to the website of the festival.
Performers on stage will include Lari Giorgescu (Notonlyone), Ana Iacob (Anima) and Bogdan Iacob (Animus).
The 27th edition of the "George Enescu" International Festival is taking place in Bucharest and across the country until September 21. This year's theme is "Celebrations," marking the 70th anniversary of the death of the great Romanian composer.
