Enescu Festival: Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Petr Popelka, to perform at Palace Hall on Thursday

The Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Petr Popelka, will perform at the Palace Hall on Thursday starting at 20:00, as part of the George Enescu International Festival, according to the event's official website.

The concert programme includes Symphony No. 4 in E minor (completed posthumously by Pascal Bentoiu) by George Enescu and Symphonic Dances Op. 45 by Sergei Rachmaninoff.

At the Romanian Athenaeum, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of conductor Lahav Shani, will perform from 17:00.

The programme will include Overture for Orchestra Op. 23, Cyrano de Bergerac by Johan Wagenaar, Violin Concerto No. 5 in A major by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Symphony No. 9 in E minor Op. 95, 'From the New World' by Antonín Dvorák.

The soloist of the evening will be violinist Valentin Serban.

Under the title "Bach in the Jungle," at 20:00 at MINA - Museum of Immersive New Art - Bucharest, Leticia Moreno (violin), Claudio Constantini (bandoneon), Uxia Martinez-Botana (double bass) and Matan Porat (piano) propose the following programme:

- Johann Sebastian Bach - Sonata No. 4 in C minor BWV 1017 (arranged for bandoneon and violin);

- Heitor Villa-Lobos - Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5;

- [Bolivia, 18th century] Chiquitana Sonata No. 4 (Musical Archive of Chiquitos);

- Johann Sebastian Bach - Partita No. 2 in D minor for solo violin BWV 1004, Chaconne;

- Astor Piazzolla - The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires.

The 27th edition of the George Enescu International Festival is taking place in Bucharest and across the country until 21 September. This year's theme is 'Celebrations,' marking 70 years since the death of the great composer.
