His Eminence Atanasie, the first Romanian Archbishop of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, will be enthroned on Saturday at the St. George the Great Martyr Archdiocesan Cathedral in London, United Kingdom.

The Divine Liturgy and the enthronement ceremony will be celebrated starting at 9:00 a.m. by a group of clergy from the country and abroad, led by the Romanian Orthodox Metropolitan of Western and Southern Europe, His Eminence Iosif, news agency Basilica of the Romanian Patriarchate informs on Tuesday.

The delegate of His All-Holiness Patriarch Daniel at this event will be His Eminence Nifon, the Archbishop of Targoviste, Honorary Metropolitan and Patriarchal Exarch.

Both the service and the enthronement ceremony will be broadcast live on the social networks of the Archdiocese of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Archbishop-elect Atanasie was elected as the first archbishop of the new Romanian Orthodox Archdiocese in the UK diaspora during the October 25, 2024 working session of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church.

The Archdiocese of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, as well as the Diocese of Ireland and Iceland were created on February 29, 2024, as part of the Romanian Orthodox Metropolis of Western and Southern Europe.

Over one million Romanians live in Great Britain, under the pastoral care of 63 parishes, branches and Orthodox missions, as well as three monasteries.
