Minister Delegate for European Funds Marius Nica decided to hand in his resignation from office, three months into his mandate, the Ministry of Regional Development, Public Administration and European Funds (MDRAPFE) said in a Friday release.
According to the release, calls for projects worth 2.3 billion euro have been launched during this period and other calls worth 2.4 billion euro have been scheduled for the next three months.
"I thank the ministers of the Romanian Government and the representatives of the European Commission for the good co-operation, the colleagues in the ministry and the collaborators with whom we teamed up, thus succeeding in obtaining long-term beneficial results for Romania. I wish the recipients of European funds success in implementing their projects and encourage organizations to apply for this type of funding. The challenges of the year 2018, which I am convinced my successor will handle with responsibility, are related to: avoiding loss of European money under the Regional Operational Program (where alternative projects have been identified, which are carried out by recipients of state budget funding or loans), the simplification of the MySMIS2014 dedicated application, sorting out wage issues for the beneficiaries," said outgoing Minister Nica.
According to the release, the decision to resign was taken having regard of the current context and will be effective starting January 22nd, in order not to disrupt the official obligations involved in by the visit to Romania this week of a European Commission delegation.
