Roxana Minzatu, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for Social Rights and Skills, Quality Jobs, and Training, is attending the World Economic Forum in Davos, January 19 - 21, where she is scheduled to take part in high-level debates on the future of work, the impact of technological and geopolitical transformations on the workforce, and the policies needed to ensure a just transition to new economic models, according to a statement released Monday by her office.
Minzatu will speak in the public session 'Stakeholder Dialogue: Workers in the Driver's Seat', addressing how public policies need to be adapted to support workers' resilience, prevent exclusion from the labour market and strengthen cooperation between governments, employers and workers' organisations in a rapidly changing economy.
She will also join the meeting 'Securing a Future-Ready Workforce for the Next Industrial Era', focused on preparing workers for new industries and supply chains. In this context, she will underline the importance of quality jobs for Europe's competitiveness and present the EU's experience in developing skills systems, vocational education, training and apprenticeships as models for other regions.
The Davos agenda further includes her participation in the strategic session titled 'Jobs, Growth and Geoeconomics: Building a New Prosperity Agenda', aimed at shaping a prosperity agenda centred on investment in people, skills and innovation.
The high EC official will also hold bilateral meetings with business leaders including Denis Machuel (CEO Adecco Group), Karin Radstrom (CEO Daimler Truck), Gina Vargiu-Breuer (Chief People and Culture Officer), Arthur Mensch (CEO Mistral AI), Omar Abbosh (CEO Pearson) and Maziar Mike Doustdar (CEO Novo Nordisk).
Roxana Minzatu's presence at the World Economic Forum in Davos reconfirms the European Commission's commitment to placing social rights, skills and quality jobs at the heart of the European project and the response to major global transformations, the release notes.
