More than 300 people from vulnerable communities in Calarasi County will benefit from professional counseling and personalised training programmes, within the "Skills for a Better Life" project, carried out by the Health Action Overseas Romania Foundation (HAO), in partnership with the Secondary School no. 1 Galbinasi and Profesional New Consult SRL.

The project, with a duration of 27 months (October 1, 2025 - December 31, 2027), has a total value of 2.48 million lei, of which 2.44 million lei represents the value of the European Union's co-financing from the European Social Fund+ (ESF+), through the Education and Employment Programme 2021-2027.

Thus, the project aims to facilitate lifelong learning for 301 people aged between 18 and 64, unskilled or with a low level of education from the localities of Galbinasi, Vasilati and Budesti, located 25-30 km from Bucharest, in order to support their development of professional skills or the acquisition of new ones in order to integrate into the labour market, the foundation states in a statement sent to Agerpres.

These localities have an unemployment rate of 13.6%, a high number of people with no education or with a low level of education and a significant Roma community (39.21% in Budesti, the highest percentage in Romania, in an urban area).

"My colleagues will go into the community to discuss with potential beneficiaries, so that they understand the advantages they have after enrolling in the project. Subsequently, following the verification of the eligibility conditions, each person who turns to us will benefit from an initial assessment, aimed at identifying existing skills, those that need to be acquired, as well as the areas of activity in which the beneficiary is interested in working. Then, our specialists create a personalised plan, focused not only on the person's needs, but also on their abilities and desires," said Nicolae Dobrescu, HAO executive director and project manager.

The project offers professional counseling and career guidance services, as well as personalised training programmess to improve basic skills in Romanian, mathematics and IT.

Last but not least, the project results will be transferred to a minimum of 100 providers (40 career guidance and counseling services and 60 vocational training services), a minimum of 120 employers from Calarasi County and Bucharest, as well as to 43 public employment agencies, in order to improve the relevance, accessibility, flexibility and quality of education and vocational training programmes for people without skills or with low skills.
