Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Ciprian Serban attended on Thursday in Constanta the opening of the largest maritime and offshore training center in Europe, built by the Romanian Center for the Training and Improvement of Naval Transport Personnel (CERONAV) with an investment of over 64 million RON (excluding VAT).
"The new campus - comprising an educational building, accommodation facilities and a training pool - is a modern complex covering 5,381 square meters. It includes two buildings, seven classrooms and simulators, administrative spaces, 36 double rooms and eight apartments for trainees. The campus has direct access to the CERONAV Nautical Base and is equipped with renewable energy solutions," the minister wrote on his Facebook page, agerpres reports.
According to him, the centerpiece of the investment is the training pool (498 sqm, 5.4 m deep), equipped with a Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET) simulator and modern technology for essential maritime and offshore safety courses (HUET, Sea Survival, GWO Sea Survival, Working at Height).
The project was completed in 45 months and was financed entirely from CERONAV's own revenues.
CERONAV is the only center in Europe accredited for the High Voltage standard for wind turbines, offering internationally recognized courses for the operation and maintenance of high-voltage equipment, delivered on dedicated simulators by certified instructors.
It is also the only center offering 290 courses accredited under STCW, OPITO, Nautical Institute - DP, Global Wind Organization - GWO standards, as well as inland waterway courses provided at its Galati branch in line with European directives.
According to a CERONAV release, the campus, known as Skyline, stands out for its contemporary architecture and has received international recognition, having been selected in 2015 as a finalist at the World Architecture Festival in Singapore, where it ranked among the top three projects in the Education category.
