Events dedicated to celebration of Romania's National Day in Republic of Moldova

The Embassy of Romania in Chisinau organized and was represented at a series of cultural and political-diplomatic events to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Greater Union, a diplomatic mission statement informs.

On the occasion of Romania's National Day, on December 1, Romanian Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova Daniel Ionuta participated in the te-deum performed at the Greek Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral St. John The Theologian. Later on, the diplomat attended the "Singing and Romanian dancing bridge" show, organized by the Chisinau Municipality, at The National Opera and Ballet Theatre "Maria Biesu".

According to the quoted source, the traditional reception dedicated to the National Day of Romania, held on November 30, in Chisinau, was attended by more than 1,300 people, including high-ranking officials of the Republic of Moldova, accredited diplomatic corps, renowned personalities in culture and education, representatives of the associative and academic environment, business people, personalities, journalists.

In his speech, Ambassador Daniel Ionita referred to the significance of the Union Act of 1918, to the values and principles underpinning today's Romania, and made a short account of the extensive relations of cooperation between Romania and the Republic of Moldova in support of the European path. At the same time, he mentioned the taking over by Romania of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union as of January 1, 2019.

The foyer of the reception hall hosted the exhibition mounted by the AGERPRES National News Agency called ''Romania: Evolution'' in honor of the Greater Union Centennial.

Romania's Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova Daniel Ionita participated in the reception organized on November 29 by the General Consulate of Romania in Cahul, where in his speech, he referred to history's lessons and underlined the special relations between Romania and the Republic of Moldova.

The Romanian Cultural Institute "Mihai Eminescu" in Chisinau, Romania's Embassy in the Republic of Moldova, the Lowendal Foundation, Bucharest District 1 Mayoralty, through its Cultural Center and the Manasia Estate, in collaboration with the National Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Moldova and the Moldovan Ministry of Education, Culture and Research, opened on November 29, the "George Lowendal Baron - 100 years on the art scene" exhibition with the Moldovan National Museum of Fine Arts.

On November 28, Romania's Embassy in the Republic of Moldova and the "Mihai Eminescu" Romanian Cultural Institute in Chisinau organized in the Organ Hall a classical music concert, on the occasion of Romania's National Day, performed by thethe National Room of the Organ Hall, led by Cristian Florea, with the extraordinary participation of the double bass player Petru Iuga and the National Choir, led by Ilona Stepan.

Moreover, in the context of the events occasioned by the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Greater Union, the authorities of the Republic of Moldova have decided to illuminate, on December 1, in the colors of Romania's National Flag, landmark buildings in Chisinau: Parliament Building and that of the Government of the Republic of Moldova, the National Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Moldova, "Mihai Eminescu" National Theater, the National Museum of History, the National Library, the Academy of Music, Theater and Fine Arts. The seat of the Romanian Embassy was also illuminated in the colors of the National Flag, the press release further mentions.
