Extensive anti-migration operations were carried out over two days on roads near the border with Hungary, in Arad County, with participation from German and Hungarian police officers.

According to a press release issued Friday by the Arad Border Police, over 1,000 vehicles were checked during the operations, which aimed not only to combat illegal migration but also cross-border crime.

"During the activity, mixed teams checked - using the eDAC application - approximately 1,500 individuals and 1,050 means of transport. Several irregularities were discovered, with over 60 contraventions (fines) issued and three criminal cases opened. A representative case involved our officers finding five foreign nationals without legal right to reside in the Schengen Area inside a vehicle driven by a Romanian citizen. The individuals were taken to the sector headquarters, and a criminal case for migrant smuggling was opened against the driver," the release reads.

Additionally, border police officers found industrial cutting tools (chainsaws, angle grinders) in another car driven by a Romanian, with no proof of origin. The equipment was seized, and the man is under criminal investigation for concealment of goods, as the items are suspected to be stolen.

Also, a Ukrainian national was found driving with a fake driver's license. He is being investigated for complicity in the forgery of official documents, use of a forged document, and driving on public roads without holding a valid driver's license.
