In the quarterfinals of the World Cup of the Fed Cup, Romania defeated the Czech Republic 3-2 by the points scored by Simona Halep, the winner in both single's matches and Irina Begu/Monica Niculescu, while France defeated Belgium 3-1.
Romania is facing France for the second time in the Fed Cup. The first match was played in 1976 when Romanians Virginia Ruzici and Florenta Mihai won 3-0 in the final of the consolation tournament of the competition hosted by Philadelphia (USA).
