Five migrants from Bangladesh with expired Schengen visas were discovered by border police in a lorry stopped during a routine check on a road in Arad, near the Hungarian border.
The Arad border police were carrying out random checks on vehicles on roads in the border area and stopped a lorry registered in Romania, driven by a 37-year-old man, agerpres reports.
Five foreign nationals with expired Schengen visas were found hiding in the cargo compartment.
The individuals were taken to the sector headquarters for checks where officers established that they were citizens of Bangladesh aged between 29 and 32, Arad Border Police said on Thursday in a press release.
The driver is being investigated for migrant trafficking while the foreign nationals are being investigated for attempting to cross the state border illegally.
