ForMin Odobescu, Chilean counterpart extend compassion to victims of Crevedia explosions
Romanian Foreign Minister Luminita Odobescu and her Chilean counterpart Alberto van Klaveren Stork on Monday extended messages of compassion to the relatives of those who died in recent explosions in Crevedia and to those who were injured, told Agerpres.
The two officials held a joint news conference, as Alberto van Klaveren Stork is a special guest of the Annual Meeting of Romanian Diplomacy that starts on Tuesday.
"I want to begin by sending my condolences to the families of those who died in the Crevedia explosion and wishes for a speedy recovery to those injured. Our thoughts go out to them and their families, in these difficult moments. I also want to thank all our partners who took over patients from Romania under the civil protection mechanism of the European Union - Belgium, Italy, Austria, Germany and Norway- and also to other partners that haveshowed their openness to support us," said Odobescu.
In his turn, Alberto van Klaveren Stork began his speech with a similar message. "Allow me to convey the condolences of the Chilean government for the tragedy (...) and we express our most sincere wishes that those brave rescuers injured in the accident will recover," he said.
An explosion took place on Saturday, at an LPG station on DN 1A, in the town of Crevedia, Dambovita County, that killed two. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MAI) announced that the explosions left 58 injured, including 39 firefighters, two police officers and two gendarmes. Some of the injured were transferred to hospitals in Belgium, Austria, Italy and Germany.
