Romania's Foreign Minister Oana Toiu on Friday said that she had a telephone conversation with U.S. ambassador to NATO Matthew G. Whitaker on the next steps of the Romania-U.S. partnership and their common objectives.
"During the 20 plus years of our countries working as NATO allies, we built trust. The support of the United States significantly increased Romania's capacity to be a driving force for security in our region," Toiu wrote in a social media post.
She said that they talked about the importance of the Black Sea security, the good people-to-people military and civilian relationship in NATO and in their strategic partnerships.
"Beyond any specific individual decision, the Ambassador and I share an insight into the importance Romanians give to the RO-US relationship, be it for our recent history, our present moment and future common plans."
