Romania won 4 gold medals, 1 silver medal and an honorable mention at the 24th edition of the Asian Physics Olympiad, held in Malaysia. Our country's team was made up mostly of pupils from the Bucharest International Theoretical High School of Informatics, which announced the results in a press release.
The star of the competition was Alexandru Momoiu, who won the gold medal, being the absolute winner of the present edition, with the highest total score in the competition. Besides this extraordinary result, Alexandru Momoiu also obtained the highest score in the experimental test.
The other 3 gold medals were won by Ionut Gabriel Stan, Ion Alexandru Mirica, Rares Felix Tudose, all pupils of the Bucharest International Theoretical Informatics High School.
The silver medal was won by Mendel Emanuel Mendelshon, and the honorable mention was awarded to Rares Theodor Marinescu, both students with the Bucharest International Theoretical High School of Informatics.
According to the quoted source, "these international successes, which have become a tradition of the high school for over two decades, are the result of the work and talent of exceptional students", supported by the sustained effort of teachers Rodica Ionescu and Delia Davidescu.
Romania had, for the tenth time, the special guest status at this competition in which 208 competitors from 28 countries participated.
