The Executive Committee of the Romanian Football Federation (FRF) decided on Friday that Romania will not play any match, official or friendly, against the Russian national teams, regardless of level, informs the official website of the FRF.
"The Romanian Football Federation understands the arguments put forward by the UEFA Executive Committee and agrees that under no circumstances should children suffer because of the reckless actions of a state's authorities. At the same time, the FRF believes that football and sport in general cannot be separated from the legal, institutional and economic values that have made Europe an area of peace, freedom and economic prosperity. Consequently, the FRF considers that it must be in solidarity with the spirit of the sanctions affirmed by the European and national institutions and will not play any official or friendly matches against teams of the Russian Federation," the FRF press release reads, agerpres reports.
The Romanian Football Federation specified that it is waiting for the completion of the procedures for the implementation of this decision of the UEFA Executive Committee, being convinced that the competition rules will respect the position of each national federation.
