Chair of Save Romania Union (USR) and Mayor of Timisoara, Dominic Fritz, met on Friday with European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, where he emphasised that the voice of cities must be heard more clearly in Brussels.

Fritz handed the European official the Timisoara Declaration, signed earlier this month during the Cities Summit by several mayors from EU member and candidate states.

"The voice of cities must be heard more clearly in Brussels. That's what I stressed today in my discussion with European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos. Whether we're talking about available funding, the bureaucracy that slows us down, or how European policies affect people's daily lives — this is exactly the message of the Timisoara Declaration, signed earlier this month at the Cities Summit by several European mayors from EU and candidate countries. I handed the declaration today in Brussels to Commissioner Kos. I'm glad that, in recent days, it has also been signed by mayors of major European cities such as Paris and Barcelona. Romania is becoming more visible on the European political scene, and I'm proud that Timisoara is part of this effort," Fritz wrote on Facebook.
