The future of Romanian agriculture is farmers' associations and young people who invest in new technologies, with passion and vision, declared on Saturday the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Florin Barbu, who is on a visit to Arad County, Agerpres reports.
According to a post on a social network by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR), the minister is present in the locality of Nadlac, where he is talking with farmers from the Arad area.
"In the town of Nădlac, Arad County, we saw part of the future of Romanian agriculture - 27 farmers united, ten years ago, in an agricultural cooperative - 'Fermierul Nădlăcan'. It is truly a success story built by a team with vision and love for the country's land," said Barbu.
According to him, the aforementioned agricultural cooperative manages 3,500 hectares, has 27 members and has attracted over 12 million euros in European funds.
"From the 9,500-ton storage base to the ambitious project to afforest 60 hectares of fertile non-irrigated land, this cooperative shows that responsible and profitable agriculture can be done. Together with my colleague Mihai Fifor, I discussed with farmers in the Arad area where there are strong communities developed around farms and agricultural cooperatives," said the Minister of Agriculture.
He added that he has also met young farmers who are preparing to take over their families' businesses and is confident that their enthusiasm and ideas will change the way agriculture is done.
"This is the future of Romanian agriculture - associations of farmers and young people who invest in new technologies, with passion and vision!", concluded Minister Barbu.
