Romanian tennis player Gabi Adrian Boitan qualified, on Tuesday, for the round of 16 of the challenger tournament in Tampere, Finland, endowed with total prizes of 74,825 euros, after defeating the Czech Hynek Barton with 6-3, 0-6, 6 -2.
Boitan (25 years old, 374 ATP), coming from the qualifiers, needed one hour and 42 minutes to win against a younger (20 years old) and lower ranked opponent (458 ATP).
Boitan, who in the qualifications passed the Finn Peetu Pohjola (6-3, 6-0) and the Australian Thomas Fancutt (6-3, 3-6, 7-6), secured a check for 1,200 dollars and 10 ATP points.
The Romanian will play in the round of 16 against Kazakh Dmitri Popko (27 years old, 187 ATP), victorious in both previous encounters.
