George Enescu Festival: Chamber Orchestra of Europe performs on the Romanian Athenaeum stage on Wednesday

The Chamber Orchestra of Europe, conducted by Sir Andras Schiff (musical director, piano), will perform on Wednesday on the stage of the Romanian Athenaeum, as part of the "George Enescu" International Festival, informs the event's website.

The programme will include the Concerto No. 23 in A major for piano and orchestra K. 488 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Serenade in E major for strings op. 22 by Antonin Dvorak, Serenade in D minor for wind instruments, cello and double bass op. 44 by Antonin Dvorak and Concerto No. 20 in D minor for piano and orchestra K. 466 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

The event will be preceded by the launch of the volume "New Histories of Romanian Musicians", vol. 3, Portraits of Composers (1), authors: Olguta Lupu, Florinela Popa, Antigona Radulescu, coordinator: Valentina Sandu-Dediu, Editura Muzicala, Bucharest, 2025, to be presented by Nicolae Gheorghita (vice president of UCMR - The Union of Composers and Musicologists of Romania).

Also, at the Palace Hall, music lovers are expected to attend a concert by the Budapest Festiva Orchestra, conducted by Ivan Fischer, and a performance by the Eva Duda Dance Company.

The young mezzo-soprano Dorottya Lang and the bass Krisztian Cser will also perform.

The programme includes The Miraculous Mandarin Sz. 73 and The Castle of Prince Bluebeard Sz. 48 by Bala Bartok.

The Bucharest Percussion Ensemble (Ioana Ailenei, Alina Trifu, Stefan Ailenei, Vlad Polgar, Mihai Mînzar, Alexandru Stroe) will perform at Club Control.

The programme includes works by John Cage - Living Room Music, II. Story, George Enescu - Piano Suite No. 2 in D major op. 10, Steve Reich - Drumming, Owen Clayton Condon - Fractalia, Casey Cangelosi - Theatric no. 6, Alyssa Weinberg - Table Talk, Gene Koshinski - Song of the metals, Third Coast Percussion - Niagara and Ivan Trevino - Catching Shadows.

The 27th edition of the "George Enescu" International Festival takes place in Bucharest and the country until September 21. This year, the event has as its theme the anniversaries - "Celebrations" - in the context of the 70th anniversary of the death of the great composer.
