Government approves update of legal framework regarding immunities and privileges conferred on OECD

The Government approved, on Thursday, through a memorandum, the updating of the legal framework regarding the immunities and privileges conferred on the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development by the Agreement signed in Paris on October 12, 1995 between the two parties on this subject.

According to a press release from the Executive, the normative act aims to update the bilateral legal framework regarding the immunities and privileges conferred on the OECD through the Agreement between the Government of Romania and the OECD regarding the privileges and immunities granted to the Organization, signed in 1995 and ratified in 1996.

"The Roadmap for Romania's accession to the OECD includes the conclusion of an appropriate agreement on the matter, in accordance with the privileges, exemptions and immunities that member countries should be willing to grant to the OECD in order to ensure its independence and proper functioning," the cited source states.

According to the Government, on February 9, 2026, Romania obtained the Formal Opinion of the Committee on Fiscal Affairs of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, following the evaluation of our country in this working format within the process of accession to the Organization.
