At an extraordinary meeting today, the government is expected to approve emergency financial aid for people whose homes have been damaged by the recent floods in the counties of Suceava and Neamt, according to Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan.
Bolojan said at the beginning of the meeting that this is a first aid package, distinct from the support that was provided through the General Emergency Management Inspectorate (IGSU) and from the state reserve.
"At the beginning of next week, after the completion of the on-site assessment, we will approve a new support package to support citizens to restore their homes and also to support the restoration of infrastructure severely affected by these floods," Bolojan said.
According to him, the assessments will be made by the boards appointed at local level and centralised by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
"That way, we make sure that the support reaches those affected as soon as possible," said Bolojan.
He thanked the teams working in the affected areas and gave assurances that the government will have a permanent contact with the local administrations to provide the necessary help.
