Greek prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis congratulated independent candidate Nicusor Dan on Monday for his victory in the second round of the Romanian presidential elections on Sunday.
"Warm congratulations to @NicusorDanRO for winning the Romanian presidential elections. I look forward to working with you to further strengthen the ties between Greece and Romania, for the prosperity and stability of our region," the Greek PM wrote on the X platform.
According to data centralized by the Central Electoral Bureau, Nicusor Dan, an independent candidate, obtained 6,165,741 of the votes (53.61%) in the second round of the presidential elections, while his opponent, AUR leader George Simion, obtained 5,335,752 votes (46.39%).
Of the total 19,945 polling stations, data from 19,924 polling stations were centralized, representing 99.89%.
The total number of voters who turned out to vote in the second round was 11,635,741, representing 64.72% of the total number of voters on the permanent electoral lists. AGERPRES
