The Ministry of the Environment, Waters and Forestry (MMAP) has provided an additional 20 million lei for the Green House programme for individuals, which enlarges the base of beneficiaries to include 3,000 potential new applicants, MMAP said Wednesday. The budget for the programme was thus increased from 60 million lei to 80 million lei.
'I am very glad to see the huge interest of people in the 'Green House' programme, one of the main pillars of the ministry's approach this year in support of Romania's transitioning toward a green economy. Because the budget already earmarked has been used up in some counties, leaving behind a large number of applications with local environmental protection offices, we have decided today to provide additional funds nationwide for the 'Green House' programme for individuals. This is our way of meeting the choices of as may Romanians as possible for renewable energy to heat their homes,' said Environmental Minister Cristiana Pasca Palmer.
The budget was allocated to each county proportional to population size. The 'Green House' programme started on October 10, 2016, with almost 65.8 percent of its budget provided by MMAP having been used up before Wednesday's extension of funds.
