PSD chairman, Sorin Grindeanu, declared on Monday that Daniel Baluta will remain the chairman of the PSD Bucharest Organization, this being a base on which he can build, because in less than three years there will be new elections in the Capital.
Grindeanu was asked whether Daniel Baluta defeat in the elections for the Capital City Mayor is a failure per individual or a failure of the party, that is, if PSD had had another candidate it would have had a better score.
"No. Daniel Baluta, when we measured and did these things, starting in the summer, since Nicuşor Dan became the president of Romania, measurements were taken in Bucharest and Daniel Baluta was constantly there, at the top of the preferences. Of course, it is clear that at this moment, in the campaign, things were probably not very well calibrated, considering that no poll from the last six months, not done by PSD, but by anyone else, beats what the results seem to be now. And that means that in the last days of the campaign, some changes probably happened at the Bucharest level, but that is more about campaign tactics, not about what Daniel did," Grindeanu said, in a press conference at the PSD headquarters.
He added that Daniel Baluta has done many things in Sector 4 and will continue to do so.
"Daniel will remain the chairman of PSD Bucharest, obviously. It is a base that Daniel can build very well on in Bucharest, because in less than three years we will have elections again in Bucharest," the leader of the social democrats pointed out.
